   Visakhapatnam,March 30: The 38th Formation Day of Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) was celebrated on Saturday night at Port kalavani Auditorium. On this occasion, Smt .Rita Mohanty, wife of CMD, DCI inaugurated the formation day by lighting the lamp. Capt.D.K.Mohanty,CMD,DCI cut the cake and addressed the employees, families and stake holders. In his address he highlighted various progress made by the corporation both in achieving a turnover of Rs. 730 crores during the year 2013-14 and  acquiring 3 Trailer Suction Hoper Dredgers (TSHD).He congratulated the Master,Chief Engineer and crew members of Dredge XXI for successfully completing the beach nourishment project within a record time and creating an island in front of  Varun beach. Further, he stressed the need to strive hard to improve the turnover to Rs.850 Crores during 2014-15 and complete the project in time keeping in view the stiff competition faced by the private players in the field of dredging. Complacency has no place in today’s global economy. He further informed the members that efforts are on to sign a MOU with Paradip Port Trust for procurement of a higher capacity TSHD with a long term dredging contract from the Paradip Port Trust and stressed that DCI’s effort for expansion of  it’s capacity  will continue.
On this occasion Shri.S.Balachandran,independent director of the corporation released the 5th issue of “DCI Darpan” the In-house magazine.
A colourfull cultural programe was was organised by DCI Sports and Cultural Association on this occassion. DCI Women Employees Association “Snehanjali” presented a “bridal walk”  imbibing cultural diversity was highly appreciated by the audience. Further, senior most employees of the organization were felicitated on this occasion.

Bhubeneswar, March 19: Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) a Miniratna Public sector under taking under Ministry of Shipping today handed over a cheque for Rs.20 Lakhs to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,Govt of Odisha for helping cyclone affected areas in the state.
The cheque was handed over by  Capt. D.K.Mohanty, Chairman and Managing Director, DCIL to Shri J.K.Mohapatra,I.A.S., Chief Secretary of Govt of Odisha.

Visakhapatnam,March 14:Mr. Rajiv Trivedi, IPS, Addl. DGP (Sports), Andhra Pradesh has participated in an interactive session with officers of Dredging Corporation of India, this morning. In his address to the officers, Mr. Rajiv Trivedi  recounted his experiences in swimming the English Channel, Palk Strait and the Strait of Gibraltar a few years back.  He also mentioned about the 25 km swimming done by him from Bheemunipatnam to Visakhapatnam  followed by cycling from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad in 2012. While emphasizing the importance of occupational fitness, he felt that regularity of practice and focus on key parameters of performance are important for success.  He said one must have passion for non-professional pursuits also. Unless one defines goals in life in some manner  one will never reach them.
            Mr. Rajiv Trivedi has underlined the need for integrated personality development for coping up with various challenges in life.Capt. D.K. Mohanty, CMD, DCI presented a memento to the guest speaker.            Mr. S. Vasudeva Rao, IPS, CVO, DCI welcomed the gathering.           Dr. P.K. Sethi , JGM (FS) proposed the vote of thanks.

National safety week concludes at DCIL




Visakhapatnam, March 11: The 43rd National Safety Week celebrations concluded at Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) here on Tuesday i.e.11-03-14. The chief guest of the function Ms. Deepa B.Dasgupta, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax, Visakhapatnam Zone appreciating the efforts of DCI in the area of safety management, stressed the need of employees to play a bigger role for better safety in Dredgers.  DCI Chairman and Managing Director, Capt.D. K. Mohanty.  Cmde. P. Jayapal, Director (Operations & Technical), Shri S.VasudavaRao,CVO, HODs and the employees of the corporation participated in the programme.
The Chief Guest Ms. Deepa B.Dasgupta stated that  with the inclusion of new TSHD recently, DCI will augment its dredging capacity and also stated that the employees of DCI work under extremely difficult circumstances round the clock and under the leadership of Capt. Mohanty, CMD, DCI, not only DCI but also outside DCI also will flourish.
Capt.D.K.Mohanty,CMD DCI in his address advised the Operations, Technical departments to take operational safety, while Finance to take human safety in paying monthly salaries and other terminal benefits at the time of retirement..
CVO in his address stressed the importance and said that, NSC is doing marvelous job taking newer dimensions and organizing number of programmes and sky is the limit. The behavior of the people should change. DOT in his address stated that while driving two wheelers, we should wear Helmets to avoid accidents.  During the week from 04.03.14 to 11.03.14, DCI conducted competitions at the local CBM High School and to the winners, prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest. Capt. P.M.Saravanan, Jt.General Manager (HSE) welcomed the gathering. Ms. M.Vijayalakshmi, AM(HSE) proposed Vote of Thanks.

National safety week celebrations begin at DCIL


Visakhapatnam, March 4: The Dredging Corporation of India Ltd, Visakhapatnam is celebrating the 43rd National Safety Week from 04-03-2014 to 11-03-2014 covering DCI Dredgers, Project Offices and Head Office. The celebrations were inaugurated on 4th March 2014 with Safety flag hoisting and safety pledge administering to the employees by the Chairman and Managing Director, Capt.D. K. Mohanty.  Shri.S.VasudavaRao,CVO, HODs and the employees of the corporation participated in the programme.

Capt.D. K. Mohanty in his inaugural address stressed on significance of safety on board dredgers. He conveyed preventive measures are to be taken to ensure compliance of safety aspects on ships and reviewed periodically by all concerned, so as to maintain them as per the prescribed standards.

 During the week, Poster and Elocution competitions on Safety shall be conducted for local school students and Fire drill will be conducted in the DCI Premises.
