I-Day celebrated at Dredging Corporation

Independence Day was celebrated at Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCIL)
corporate office here on Thursday with great enthusiasm. Capt.D.K.Mohanthy,
Chairman and Managing Director, Dredging Corporation of India Ltd unfurled the National Flag and conveyed the Independence
Day greetings to all the officers, employees and their families.
On the auspicious occasion, CMD
expressed gratitude to all the freedom fighters who have helped the Country to
achieve freedom. CMD stated that with the recent induction of the two new
dredgers, the performance of the Company is on the upswing. But he cautioned
that DCI is yet to come out completely
out of the tough phase and requested all the officers and staff to
work together as a team. He stated that only with co-operation of the all the
employees at all levels the Company will be able to successfully sail
through. He stated that the third
dredger was recently launched in Netherlands is expected to join by end of the
financial year. He stated that the first quarter results ending 30th
June 2013 are encouraging with the profit after tax increasing to Rs10 Cr. He further
stated that share price of corporation rose to 52 week high recently; it is a very
positive development and indicating growth and the investor confidence on the
Company.
Patriotic songs rendered by the
employees of DCI and Cash prizes were distributed to the employees who were successful
in Hindi exams. Shri P.V.Ramanamurthy, Director (Finance), Cmde. P.Jayapal, Director (Ops.&Tech.)
and other Head of Departments, employees and their families were present on this occasion.

26: DCI Dredge XX, a latest second trailer suction hopper dredger (TSHD) of the
Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL), was dedicated to the nation on
Friday i.e.26th July 2013 at Chennai Port Trust.
At a ceremony
organised at the Chennai Port, Hon`ble Minister of Shipping, Govt of India Thiru.G.K.
Vasan dedicated the dredger that was procured at a cost of Rs.
528 crores from IHC Merwede, Netherlands, in the presence of Shri.M.C.Jauhari, Joint Secretary (Shipping), Capt.
D. K. Mohanty, Chairman and Managing Director, DCI, Shir Atulya Misra, Chairman,
Chennai Port Trust, and Shri. M. A. Bhaskarachar,
Chairman and Managing Director, Ennore Port and Shri B.Poiyaamozhi, Development Advisor (Ports).
DCI directors – Shri
P.V.Ramana Murthy, Director(Finance), Cmde.P.Jayapal, Director (operations
& technical), Shri S.Balachandran, Independent Director, Dr.Narasimha Rao,
Independent Director also participated in the glittering function. The function
was attended by other senior officials from Ministry, Chennai Port Trust and
Ennore Port.
Briefing the Media
after the dedication ceremony, Thiru. G.K.Vasan
said "DCI has placed order for three dredgers after he took over after a
gap of almost ten years. He stated it hoped that with the addition of these
dredgers DCI and further addition of two more higher capacity 9000 Cu.M hopper
capacity dredgers DCI will be able
to cater almost 100% of the dredging
requirements in the country.”
The first in the
series of three DCI THDS dredgers DCI Dredger XIX joined in the fleet of DCI on
22nd December 2012 last year. Third dredger of the latest class would join the DCI fleet by Feb 2014 ,he stated.
Elaborating on the
new dredgers, Capt. D.K.Mohanty stated that these are state of dredgers with most modern
technology and would help in a long way in improving the efficiency of the
Company.
The DCI Dredger XX
vessel is of steel construction, with an overall length of 114 m, breadth 21.3
m and depth 7.5 m, with a gross tonnage of 6970.
The dredging depth
is approximately 25 m, with a hopper capacity of 5,500 cu.m.
Dredge XX has a manoeuvring speed of 14.1
knots to operate in strong currents and has the capacity of delivering high
productivity, reliability and effective dredging operation as well as low power
consumption and operational cost.
It is fully equipped
to deliver all kinds of marine services like maintenance dredging, shore pumping,
rain bowing, beach nourishment and land reclamation. The vessel will be
deployed amongst others for the maintenance and dredging projects on the Indian
coast. DCI Dredge XX is specially designed for this task taking into account
the typical Indian topography of the sea bed soil, along with the strong
currents at shallow depths. It is expected that the DCI Dredge XX will have a
high productivity, reliability and efficiency capabilities, as well as low
power consumption and operational costs.
At present, DCI
dredgers are engaged in Kolkata, Paradip, Ennore, Kandla and Kochin Ports. Besides the major ports and non-major ports,
DCI also carries out dredging works for Indian Navy and shipyards.

the public sector.

Visakhapatnam, August 9: Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCI) launched
the third Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) – DCI Dredge XXI of 5500 Cu.M
Hopper Capacity in 8/8/13 at Netherlands.
The launching ceremony was performed by Mrs Rita
Mohanty, wife of DCI CMD, Capt. D.K.Mohanty
at the IHC’s yard in Kinderdijk, The Netherlands. The ceremony was also attended by Mr.Bram
Roelse, Managing Director of IHC Merwede’s Dredging division apart from other
senior officials.
According to a Press Released by DCIL head office
here on Friday,09 August 2013, Government of India, Ministry of Shipping has
accorded approval to DCI for procurement of three dredgers of 5500 Cu.M hopper
capacity each at an approximate cost of Rs.1570 Cr. in April 2010 all being
built by IHC Dredgers BV, Netherlands. Two of the vessels - DCI DREDGE XIX
AND DCI DREDGE XX were already delivered
and commissioned in December, 2012 and July, 2013 respectively. This
is the third TSHD dredger of the series and is expected to be commissioned by February
2014.
The vessels is
capable of dredging to a depth of 25 mtrs. which is one unique feature of these
dredgers. Due to the robust engine power, the dredgers are ideally suited to dredge
in shallow waters and in strong currents. The high powered jet fitted in the
dredgers enables it to carry out both capital dredging and maintenance dredging
work. All the vessels are constructed under the
dual classes of Lloyd’s Register and Indian Register of Shipping. These
dredgers feature high levels of productivity, reliability and efficiency.
With
the addition of these dredgers, it is
expected that the Company will be effectively able to meet the maintenance
dredging requirements of the Major Ports in the Country.
The Company has Capital Expenditure Plans for the 12th Plan including placing orders for two
more 9000 Cu.M. Capacity dredgers.
