DCI Safe ...due to well advanced precautionary measures in recent Hudud Super cyclone

Due to Hudhhudh cyclone effect in Visakhapatnam along with small industries big industries also damaged. Till today they have not restored. But the company having 800 crores turn over i.e. DCI  immediately after the day of cyclone attended to the duties, minimised the financial loss by taking all pre cautions. DCI has taken care from small things i.e. computer to big dredgers as the cyclone information received on 7 & 8 i.e. one week before cyclone.
            As per the instructions of Capt.D.K.Mohanty,CMD,DCI all the employees have taken care of computers, important papers by keeping them locked in a safety place and the windows are also tied with ropes. DCI employees have taken all the care in such away not to get the work to be  disturbed due to cyclone. DCI has taken care of all the redgers  worth of Rs.1000 crores  by keeping them in naval berth. 
            As the DCI office is constructed in plus shape it was protected from Hudhhudh cyclone even though there is  heavy wind.  Except small damage no big damages caused to the building.  The financial loss caused to DCI only  15 lakhs.
            Even though trees were fallen due to Hudhhudh DCI has taken all the steps to restore them.

DCIL CONTRIBUTES TO SWACHH VIDYALAYA SCHEME UNDER CSR
Visakhapatnam, September 27: Hon’ble Prime Minister has in his speech to the nation on 15th August 2014 announced the Swachh Vidyalay Campaign and called upon the corporate sector to give priority to the provision of toilets in schools by spending under Corporate Social Responsibility.
             Dredging Corporation of India Limited, a Mini Ratna Company under Ministry of Shipping, Government of India having its Head Office in Visakhapatnam has taken a lead in this national mission under its Corporate Social Responsibility Program for 2014-15 and is committing an amount of about Rs.24 Lakhs for construction of toilets for Government Schools in Visakhapatnam. The Company has begun this campaign in Visakhapatnam by committing to construct toilets for School Children at Government High School, Sabbavaram on Saturday.
             The foundation stone for construction of Toilets at Government School, Sabbavaram, Visakhapatnam was laid by Capt.D.K.Mohanty, CMD, DCI, Cmde. P.Jayapal, Director (Operations & Technical) and other senior officials of the Company, Headmaster of the School, officials from district administration and school children.
                Speaking on the occasion, Capt.D.K.Mohanty, CMD stated that  DCI is proud to be associated to this national campaign and happy that the foundation stone for Swachh Vidyalaya is being laid coinciding with the Swachh Bharat mission called by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. He stated that DCI will keep upto its commitment of spending the money towards Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign in this financial year in consultation with district administration. He further added DCI is also contributing under CSR for providing quality Health Care to poor and needy and in this connection has placed order for two state-of –art medical equipment costing in total Rs.33 Lakhs for KGH Hospital. The first of these machines will be delivered by the end of this month and the second by mid November, 2014.

“Swachh Bharat” week observed in Dredging Corporation



Swachh Bharat” week observed in DCI
Visakhapatnam, September 25:As a part of week-long “Swachh Bharat” (Clean India) campaign, the Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) has inaugurated the program and conducted clean drive in head office on Thursday.
Capt.D.K.Mohanty,CMD,DCI has launched the  special clean drive at head office and personally participated in clean drive. On this occasion CMD suggested staff to keep premises clean. The swachh Bharat campaign will be organizing for week long programe from 25th September 2014 to 2nd October 2014.During this period DCI is organizing various awareness programmes in near by villages and conducting competitions for employees and school children.This program is as part of National awareness campaign on clean India.  Cmde.P.Jayapal, Director (Operations and Technical), DCI, M.S.Rao,GM(PE),HOD(HR) and Head of the departments, participated in the programme. The authorities have decided to take the cleanliness drive shortly at rural areas in Visakhapatnam district.

Visakhapatnam, September 15: Asia Pacific HRM Congress 2014, a conclave of CEOsand HR professionalsawarded Dredging Corporation of India Ltd., the “Organization with Innovative HR practices” in recognition to the strategic position the organisation holds in the fraternity.                        Capt. D.K.Mohanty, Chairman –cum- Managing Director received the award in a glittering ceremony held at Bangalore.
Dredging Corporation of India Ltd during the last three years has taken various steps for improving the working condition on board the dredgers andredressal of grievances of the floating staff. The representation of qualified personnel belonging to SC/ST community has also improved considerably. At present the corporation employs about 750 marine personnel to man these dredgers.
During the last two years Dredging Corporation Of India Ltd., has recruited  32no.s of Diploma in Nautical Sciences (DNS) and  29no.s Trainee Marine Engineers (TME) with professional skills and undergoing training on various dredgers. In due course theywill man the dredgers as Dredge Masters and CEOs.
Further, the attrition rate has also reduced considerably among the floating officers with the constant efforts made by DCI in giving training to DNS and TME engineers who have completed their requisite courses from Indian Maritime University affiliated institutions. The availability of trained manpower in the dredging field has been suitably addressed by innovative methods.
