Dredging
Corporation of India Ltd during the last three years has taken various steps
for improving the working condition on board the dredgers andredressal of
grievances of the floating staff. The representation of qualified personnel
belonging to SC/ST community has also improved considerably. At present the
corporation employs about 750 marine personnel to man these dredgers.
During
the last two years Dredging Corporation Of India Ltd., has recruited 32no.s of Diploma in Nautical Sciences (DNS)
and 29no.s Trainee Marine Engineers
(TME) with professional skills and undergoing training on various dredgers. In
due course theywill man the dredgers as Dredge Masters and CEOs.
Further,
the attrition rate has also reduced considerably among the floating officers
with the constant efforts made by DCI in giving training to DNS and TME
engineers who have completed their requisite courses from Indian Maritime
University affiliated institutions. The availability of trained manpower in the
dredging field has been suitably addressed by innovative methods.
Proud to note as an Ex-HR Executive of DCI. I was directly associated with recruitment and induction of the Deck & Engine Cadet Officers for All India Dredging Cadre ( AIDC ) scheme. My Hearty cngratulations to DCI management in Genral for achieving this and to HR team in particular. GVS Prabhakara Rao.
