CONSTRUCTS TOILETS FOR GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

UNDER CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

            Visakhapatnam, January 29: Dredging Corporation of India Limited, a Mini Ratna Company under Ministry of Shipping, Government of India having its Head Office in Visakhapatnam  under its Corporate Social Responsibility Program for 2014-15 has undertaken construction of toilets for six government schools  at Thotagaruvu, Vepagunta, Sabbavaram, Bheemili, Vadapalem and Majjivalasa. The total cost of the project is about Rs.42 lakhs for total of 30 Units. The cost is inclusive of providing borewell for water supply for a school and providing electricity connection for another school.  The construction of the toilets was started in December, 2014. The  Company has handed over two toilet complexes at Thotagaruvu and Vepagunta on 29/1/15. Speaking on the occasion at the simple functions organized at the respective schools, Capt. D.K.Mohanty, CMD of the Company has stated that the Company has taken up this prestigious project under Swachh Vidyalaya Program started by Government of India with an intention to provide toilets to the government schools with standards to the level of any corporate school. He  asked the School children to use the toilets and maintain them neat and clean. He stated that the toilets for the remaining four schools would be completed by middle of March and the Company would take up construction of more toilets in next financial year. He further stated that the Company has already procurement state of art medical equipment worth Rs.33 Lakh to KGH Hospital which has been handed over to the Hospital.          Headmaster/ Headmisteress of the respective schools thanked DCI for the noble cause taken up by them and promised that they would ensure that the same are maintained in neat and clean way.

            Cmde, P.Jayapal, Director (Operations and Technical) and Shri S.Charles, Director (Finance) and other senior officers of the Company, teachers of the respective schools and students were present during the handing over function.
